Job Purpose

To contribute to the team’s collective market and macro knowledge and to assist in asset allocation decisions and literature production. Provide bespoke investment and technical support as required. Additionally, they would be required contribute to fund research.

Job Role

• Contribute to the team’s macroeconomic knowledge base and assist in decision making with respect to tactical asset allocation
• Contribute to the production of client friendly marketing content.
• Assist in maintaining the MFP asset allocation policy that meets the needs of the business (in conjunction with the Investment Committee).
• Contribute to economic, market and product model building, maintenance and improvement.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative collective fund research in order to maintain appropriate fund panels. Funds research would focus on OEICs/Unit trusts, both UK and offshore, Investment trusts, Exchange Traded Funds and REITs and would cover most traditional asset classes including alternative investments and property.
• Provide technical assistance to the Financial Planning teams in investment fund related matters.

Other duties include:

• Assist in maintaining a range of investment model portfolios that meets the needs of clients (in conjunction with the Investment Committee).
• Assist in developing and maintaining the in-house portfolio construction facilities.
• Report to and contribute to discussions held within the Investment Committee meetings.
• Assist in writing and maintaining appropriate literature relating to the marketing of MFP investment services.
• Develop training and technical update facilities to ensure that Financial Planning teams are kept abreast of investment industry developments.
• Ensure that investment research responsibilities are processed within agreed time standards and in accordance with internal procedures and controls.
• Be aware of business risks and make recommendations/agree actions to minimise risk.
• Assist in creating/maintaining key internal and external relationships through a programme of regular 1:1 meetings and/or feedback.
• Continually assess and recommend changes to investment procedures and systems to meet business needs.

Person Specification

• 2 - 5 years experience in Wealth Management, Private Banking, Asset Management or Sell-side research, in an investment-related position. We will consider candidates from other backgrounds however. Knowledge of macro-economic environment and the key factors influencing asset allocation decisions.
• Strong quantitative skills. Knowledge of programming languages a plus.
• Knowledge of UK collective funds market and other relevant funds (i.e. ETFs) and asset classes. Practical experience of fund research a plus.
• Good knowledge of the UK market and global investment markets.
• Excellent IT skills – high standard of Microsoft Office/Excel/Powerpoint, Bloomberg/Reuters and other packages relevant for product research/fund management research databases. Knowledge of Financial Express Analytics as a plus.
• Good analytical skills. Technical focus with good attention to details.
• To act as the ‘face’ of Mazars with product providers and to present a professional outlook and image.
• Teamwork: Able to work, contribute and develop within a closely-knit investment team
• Independence: Able to work on own initiative and to deadlines and prioritise workloads.Adaptable to changing demands and priorities.
• Communication: Good communication skills, written and oral.
• Drive: Demonstrates commitment to own development.
